The CCCB

The CCCB is the national assembly of Canada's bishops, founded in 1943, and officially recognized by the Holy See in 1948. It is one of a network of episcopal conferences that since Vatican Council II (1962- 65) serve as official expressions of the Universal Church.

The CCCB coordinates the shared responsibilities of Canada's bishops at both national and international levels in such fields as ecumenism, liturgy, Christian education, human rights, social justice, respect for life and family, and meetings of the Synod of Bishops. Composed of 134 bishops, both active and retired, serving in 72 dioceses, the CCCB works in close collaboration with the Holy See and other episcopal conferences.
