Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada

Next Sunday, the bishops will be calling on your generosity on the occasion of the Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada.  The support received will help the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops in its many activities.

The CCCB provides support to the Canadian bishops in their work, represents them nationally and internationally and assures constant links with the Vatican. It publishes numerous books for students in Catholic schools as well as for the general public. During 2001, the Conference will help coordinate the visit to Canada of the relics of St. Therese of Lisieux and organize a North American Congress on Vocations.

Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada

As the Father has sent me, so I send you is this year's theme for the Collection of the Needs of the Church in Canada. This quote from John's Gospel leads off one of the key chapters in Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Exhortation Ecclesia in America. Today, in parishes across the country, the bishops are once again calling on your generosity to work together with them in the mission of the Church. Through the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), the bishops make themselves heard and seen in the many areas of today's society, often in distinctive and challenging ways that seeks to make the Kingdom of God more present each day in our world. On the occasion of this annual collection, we ask you to join with them in the work of the Church by responding generously to their call.
