    panel_anglican.jpgThe Bishops of Canada gathered 19-23 October 2009 at the NavCanada Centre in Cornwall for the Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).  About 90 Bishops met on this occasion to review pastoral activities of the past year and to discuss important questions and issues. 

    They also elected a new Permanent Council as the two-year terms of its current members have ended, including that of CCCB President Most Reverend V. James Weisgerber, Archbishop of Winnipeg.

    ple20083.jpgThe Bishops of Canada gathered 22-26 September 2008 at the NavCanada Centre in Cornwall for the Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).  Approximately 90 Bishops met on this occasion to discuss questions that concern not only the Catholic Church in Canada but international issues as well.

    Observers and invited guests of various faiths were also present.  On Monday, 22 September 2008, the Plenary Assembly welcomed Mr. Phil Fontaine, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.  This was the first time a National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations had been invited to the Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

    pleniere_plenary_2007.jpgThe annual meeting of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops took place in Cornwall, 15-19 October 2007. The CCCB holds its Plenary Assembly to discuss a number of pastoral and financial issues.

    The CCCB was founded by the Bishops 60 years ago, in order to help them in their pastoral responsibilities at the regional, national and international levels and to address challenges confronting society and the Church in Canada.  The 2007 meeting involved some 80 Bishops plus invited observers, including clergy, representatives of Catholic organizations and of other Christian Churches.
