Standing Committee for Development and Peace

The Standing Committee for Development and Peace:

  • serves in an advisory capacity, reporting to the CCCB Permanent Council and Executive Committee;
  • receives pertinent information from CCODP on a regular basis regarding its current projects and partners, as referred by the CCCB staff;
  • provides ongoing support for CCODP;
  • ensures that CCODP is in conformity with Church teachings;
  • facilitates communication and collaboration between the CCCB and CCODP;
  • ensure that any future cases of concern regarding CCODP projects in the
    Global South are appropriately reported and addressed;
  • encourages CCODP in implementing the principles of Caritas in Veritate;
  • assists in clarifying the relationship between the CCCB and CCODP;
  • continues responding to CCODP on its concerns and questions concerning collaboration with future partners;
  • encourages CCODP in its ongoing communications with local Bishops in Canada and the regional episcopal assemblies;
  • advises CCODP in updating its bylaws.
