Funeral arrangements for the late Archbishop Daniel J. Bohan of Regina

(CCCB – Ottawa)... A Mass for the eternal repose of the Most Reverend Daniel J. Bohan, Archbishop of Regina, will be celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2016, at 10:30 am, in Holy Rosary Cathedral, Regina. It will be presided by the Most Reverend Albert Thévenot, M.Afr., Bishop of Prince Albert, and the Most Reverend Donald Bolen, Bishop of Saskatoon, will give the homily. Archbishop Bohan died on January 15, 2016, at Regina's Pasqua Hospital where he was in palliative care. He was 74 years old.

There will be visitation at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Thursday, January 21, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, with the Office for the Dead at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 26 at 1:30 pm in Moncton at St. Augustine's Parish.

Archbishop BohanBorn in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, on November 8, 1941, Archbishop Bohan was ordained to the priesthood on May 13, 1967, for the Archdiocese of Moncton. In 2003, Saint John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto. He was appointed Archbishop of Regina on March 30, 2005.

During his episcopal ministry, Archbishop Bohan served on several commissions and committees of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). He was as a member of the former Episcopal Commission of Social Affairs (2003-2008), a member of the Episcopal Commission for Christian Unity, Religious Relations with the Jews, and Interfaith Dialogue (2008-2011) and Chairman of the same Commission (2011-2014). In addition, he served as a member of the Catholic / Evangelical Dialogue (2010-2013) and has been Co-Chair of the same Dialogue since 2013. Since 2014, he was a CCCB delegate on the Governing Board of the Canadian Council of Churches. In 2012, Archbishop Bohan was appointed by the Holy Father as a member of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
