CCCB delegates to the 2018 Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) publishes the names of the delegates and substitutes which were elected for the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. The 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod will meet 3-28 October 2018 on the theme Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment.

In the order in which they were chosen, the names of the delegates and substitutes elected by the Bishops of Canada for the 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops are:

collijensenEnglish Sector: The Most Reverend Fred Colli, Bishop of Thunder Bay, and The Most Reverend Stephen Jensen, Bishop of Prince George. The Most Reverend Thomas Dowd, Auxiliary Bishop of Montréal, was elected the English Sector substitute delegate.

French Sector: The Most Reverend Luc Cyr, Archbishop of Sherbrooke and Co-Treasurer of the CCCB, and The Most Reverend Lionel Gendron, P.S.S., Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil and President of the CCCB. The Most Reverend Louis Corriveau, Auxiliary Bishop of Québec, was elected the French Sector substitute delegate.

Canada’s oldest diocese, the Archdiocese of Quebec, was established in 1674. Most Reverend François de Laval was its first Bishop.
