holy father francisOn Wednesday, 12 February 2020, the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Querida Amazonia, the final document of the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazonian Region held in Rome 6-27 October 2019, was published. The Holy Father states that while the Amazon region spreads over nine specific countries, the document is equally intended for the whole world, as we all share in the responsibility for this land, and he calls on all of us to recognize that "the Church's concern for the problems of this area obliges us to discuss, however briefly, a number of other important issues that can assist other areas of our world in confronting their own challenges" (n.5). The document outlines the Pope's reflections on four key wishes or dreams for the region and its people: a social dream (n.8-27), a cultural dream (n.28-40), an ecological dream (n.41-60), and an ecclesial dream (n.61-110).
