Continental Congress for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy to be held for the Americas

Logo Jubilee of MercyAs part of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, the Pontifical Commission for Latin America and the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM) are organizing a continental Congress of the Americas, which will take place August 27 to 30, 2016, in Bogota, Colombia. Several Bishops from Canada will participate: the Most Reverend Lionel Gendron, P.S.S., Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil and Vice President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops; His Eminence Gérald Cyprien Cardinal Lacroix, Archbishop of Québec and Primate of Canada; the Most Reverend Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal; the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J., Archbishop of Ottawa; the Most Reverend Luc Bouchard, Bishop of Trois-Rivières; the Most Reverend Daniel Jodoin, Bishop of Bathurst; the Most Reverend Raymond Poisson, Bishop of Joliette; and the Most Reverend Héctor Felipe Vila, Bishop of Whitehorse. Canada’s oldest diocese, the Archdiocese of Quebec, was established in 1674. Most Reverend François de Laval was its first Bishop.
