184-940KThe Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has prepared prayer cards in honour of three recently declared Canadian patron Saints: Saint André Bessette (commonly referred to as Saint Brother André), Saint François de Laval, and Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. At their 2016 Plenary Assembly, the Bishops of Canada unanimously approved the three devotional titles, recognizing there has been strong popular devotion to all three saints since their deaths and already long before they were declared Saints by the Universal Church. The Bishops also wished to underscore the continuing and contemporary significance of these Saints in the life of the Church in Canada.

Subsequent to the Plenary Assembly, the Conference issued a formal decree approving the following devotional titles: Saint André Bessette, patron saint of family caregivers in Canada, Saint François de Laval, patron saint of the Bishops of Canada, and Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, protectress of Canada. The prayer cards can be purchased in packs of 50 by placing an order through CCCB Publications by phone (1-800-769-1147), by fax (613-241-5090), by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The colours of the web site represent the official heraldic insignia of Bishops. The green corresponds to the galero (ecclesiastical hat) and six tassels on each side that make up the crest and supporters of the coat of arms of each Bishop while the gold represents the processional cross.
