Ottawa (CCCB) -- Ms. Adèle Bolduc has been named the new Director of the Missions Office of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. She replaces Father Douglas Crosby, O.M.I., who, last May, was appointed English General Secretary of the CCCB.

Mrs. Bolduc, 52, has an extensive background in the missionary field. She worked in the slums of Lima, Peru, from 1972 to 1976, in northern Alberta from 1976 to 1980, and in the diocese of Labrador City-Schefferville from 1992 to 1996. She also participated in the organization of mission activities in the Archdiocese of Québec from 1980 to 1986.

Mrs. Bolduc, a Montréal native, holds a Bachelor of Theology degree from Laval University in Québec, as well as a Master of Arts and Licence in Theology from Saint Paul University in Ottawa.

The Missions Office works with the Episcopal Commission for Missions, manages the Pastoral Fund for Evangelization, collaborates with various groups in the planning and training of lay missionaries, and promotes the development of a missionary pastoral policy.
