Most Holy Father:

On behalf of the Roman and Eastern Catholic Bishops of Canada, and all their clergy, members of consecrated life and faithful, I extend to you our best wishes and joyful prayers on this happy occasion of your 80th birthday.

In thanksgiving to the Father of all mercies, who has providentially called you as successor of Peter, we celebrate the generous and heroic witness that you proclaim through your life and ministry to that rock of faith, hope and love on which Our Lord Jesus Christ founded the Church.

May the Holy Spirit continue to give you strength, joy and health, and our Blessed Mother intercede for you and all the Church universal.

Our voices join with those of all our brothers and sisters in the Lord in wishing you Ad multos annos! Bonne fête! Happy birthday!

Yours sincerely in Our Lord,
