Death of Eparchial Bishop Sleiman Hajjar

(Ottawa - CCCB) Most Rev. Sleiman Hajjar, B.S., Eparchial Bishop for Greek-Melkites in Canada, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, while on vacation in Florida. According to reports, Bishop Hajjar, 51, drowned following a heart attack while swimming.

Born in Lebanon in 1950, Bishop Hajjar was ordained to the priesthood on August 4, 1979. He was named Eparchial Bishop for Greek-Melkites in Canada on June 30, 1998.

Funeral arrangements are still being finalized.
