(CCCB – Ottawa) Sister Mary Jean Goulet, C.S.C., has been appointed Director of the Office for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations at the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). With this appointment, she becomes Secretary for the Episcopal Commission for Christian Unity / Religious Relations with the Jews / Interfaith Dialogue.

A resident of Ottawa, Sister Goulet’s background includes religious education and pastoral work as well as ecumenical and interfaith relations. From 1999 to 2002, she was coordinator of pastoral services for the Archdiocese of Ottawa, which also involved ecumenical and interfaith representation on a number of committees. She is currently community director of the English-Canadian region of the Congregation of the Holy Cross.

She succeeds Sister Donna Geernaert, S.C., who is leaving the post after 18 years following her election as congregational leader for the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul (Halifax).

Sister Goulet has already begun her new duties and will be working alongside of Sister Geernaert until the end of October in order to assure continuity in this portfolio.
