In Canada the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2008, will be from 20 to 27 January.

Inaugurated in 1908 at the initiative of an Episcopal priest of the United States, the event is celebrated all around the world. Most countries observe the event from 18 to 25 January.

In Canada, to help faith communities prepare for this Week, an Ecumenical Committee, coordinated by the Commission on Faith and Witness of the Canadian Council of Churches published documents inspired by the theme, “Pray without Ceasing”.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is a member of the Canadian Council of Churches.

The colours of the web site represent the official heraldic insignia of Bishops. The green corresponds to the galero (ecclesiastical hat) and six tassels on each side that make up the crest and supporters of the coat of arms of each Bishop while the gold represents the processional cross.
