Bishops' Conferences from G8 countries remind their political leaders of moral obligations

(CCCB – Ottawa)... Archbishop V. James Weisgerber, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), has joined the other Presidents of the Episcopal Conferences from G8 countries to speak out only a few days before the G8 meeting.

The letter from the Catholic Episcopal Conferences has been sent to Mr. George W. Bush, President of the United States of America, Mr. Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Ms. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the French Republic, Mr. Silvio Berlusconi, Prime Minister of Italy (President of the Council of Ministers of Italy), Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation.
