The Bishops of Canada gathered 22-26 September 2008 at the NavCanada Centre in Cornwall for the Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).  Approximately 90 Bishops met on this occasion to discuss questions that concern not only the Catholic Church in Canada but international issues as well.

Observers and invited guests of various faiths were also present.  On Monday, 22 September 2008, the Plenary Assembly welcomed Mr. Phil Fontaine, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.  This was the first time a National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations had been invited to the Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
