On the occasion of the upcoming trilateral summit, in a letter written to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Commission for Justice and Peace of the Canadian Council of Churches (CCC) calls on Messrs. Harper, Bush and Calderón to use this opportunity to focus on human rights and the common good.

Prepared in consultation with the CCC member Churches and Church organizations, including the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, the letter calls for new commitments by the three countries toward "the reduction of inequality, protection of the most vulnerable, and wise stewardship of the planet".
