Your Excellency,

Please convey to all your faithful the prayers and condolences of the Bishops and Catholics of Canada following the loss of lives and terrible destruction from the massive tornado that hit Moore this weekend. We also remember the other communities in your State that have been affected by such devastating storms over the past days. We join you, your brother Bishops, and everyone of good will, in praying for the wellbeing of all who have been affected and now live with loss and heartache.

May Our Lord inspire hope, peace, and consolation through his presence and word. May he encourage, and sustain, the generous efforts of those who are responding to his call to love and serve one another, not only now in this hour of urgent need, but throughout the many days of reconstruction and healing yet to come.

With the assurance of my prayers for God’s blessings upon your work and witness, I am,

Yours fraternally in Our Lord,

+ Richard W. Smith
Archbishop of Edmonton and
President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops
