Today as you celebrate your 21st anniversary of your election as the Successor of Peter, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, gathered in Cornwall, Ontario, for its annual Plenary Meeting, offers you its respectful homage and sincerest congratulations.

To mark this anniversary, the Bishops of Canada are offering their prayers and work this day for your personal intentions, praying that the Lord will send forth his Spirit and grant you peace, joy and happiness in your pastoral ministry at the service of the Universal Church.

In the name of my brother bishops in Canada, Most Holy Father, I convey to you our devoted personal regards, and ask you in your pastoral solicitude to bless us and all the faithful of the Church in Canada.
