CCCB appoints new Director of Communications

c_choury.jpg(CCCB – Ottawa)…The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has added a new member to its staff with the recent appointment of Ms. Christine Choury as Director of the Communications Service.

A graduate in law from the Université Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV, France, Ms. Choury also holds a diploma in English studies from the University of Cambridge and a diploma in public relations from Humber College, Toronto.

Ms. Choury is fluently trilingual, speaking English, French and Spanish, and brings with her an extensive background in government and media relations. At the time of her CCCB appointment, she was manager of communications for the International Affairs Branch of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). Experienced in issue management, crisis communications and strategic marketing communication, she has also previously worked with the Canadian Boreal Initiative (CBI), the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE).

As CCCB Communications Director, Ms. Choury will participate actively in the work of the Conference. This will include advising the CCCB President and other members on key questions of government, media or public interest. Other responsibilities include developing communications strategies, managing information requests and media inquiries, and relations with Canadian media. She will also staff the new CCCB Standing Committee on Communications, as well as advise the Standing Committee on Government Relations.
