Logo_Year_of_Faith_2012-2013As part of the Year of Faith, the Holy See celebrated a special day focusing on Evangelium Vitae, the “Gospel of Life”. The June 16, 2013, celebration included Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square with Pope Francis as the presiding celebrant. In his homily, the Holy Father focused on three main points: “first, the Bible reveals to us the Living God, the God who is life and the source of life; second, Jesus Christ bestows life and the Holy Spirit maintains us in life; and third, following God’s way leads to life, whereas following idols leads to death.” Evangelium Vitae is the title of the 1995 Encyclical by Blessed John Paul II, which is also one of the basic documents for the CCCB pastoral initiative for life and the family.
