Apostolic Nuncio to preside at a Mass blessing new icons for Saint-Jérôme Cathedral
Wednesday, March 11, 2015The Most Reverend Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, has accepted the invitation of the Most Reverend Pierre Morissette, Bishop of Saint-Jérôme, to preside at the Mass during which new icons will be blessed and installed in the sanctuary of the Cathedral of the Diocese of Saint-Jérôme. The celebration will be held March 15, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., with Bishop Morissette, the Most Reverend Raymond Poisson, Auxiliary Bishop of Saint-Jérôme, other members of the diocesan community, and the Benedictine nuns from the Abbey of Sainte-Marie des Deux Montagnes who painted the icons. The nuns worked under the supervision of a master iconographer, Mr. Alexandre Sobolev, who is Orthodox and from Russia but now lives in Montreal since 2002. Mr. Sobolev is well known for a number of artistic works, including one of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha and another of Saint Brother André.
