Bishop Paul Lortie elected President of the Assembly of Québec Catholic Bishops

lortieGathered in Trois-Rivières for their plenary meeting, March 3-6, 2015, the Bishops of Quebec elected the Most Reverend Paul Lortie, Bishop of Mont-Laurier, as President of the Assembly of Québec Catholic Bishops (AECQ). He succeeds as AECQ President the Most Reverend Pierre-André Fournier, Archbishop of Rimouski, who died suddenly on January 10. The Most Reverend Luc Cyr, Archbishop of Sherbrooke, was also elected to the Executive. Its other members are: the Most Reverend André Rivest, Bishop of Chicoutimi and Vice President; His Eminence Gérald Cyprien Cardinal Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec; the Most Reverend Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal; the Most Reverend Gilles Lussier, Bishop of Joliette; and the Most Reverend Dorylas Moreau, Bishop of Rouyn-Noranda.
