Brief by the Bishops of Québec regarding the religious neutrality of the State and religious accommodation

Mémoire AECQ Loi 62The Government of Quebec is currently holding public hearings on its Bill 62, “An Act to foster adherence to State religious neutrality and, in particular, to provide a framework for religious accommodation requests in certain bodies”. The Assembly of Québec Catholic Bishops (AQCB) presented a brief on October 27, 2016, before the Parliamentary Committee. The presentation was by the Most Reverend Paul Lortie, Bishop of Mont-Laurier and President of the AQCB, His Eminence Gérald Cyprien Cardinal Lacroix, Archbishop of Québec and Primate of Canada, and the Most Reverend Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal, both also on the Assembly’s Executive.
