Canadian Professor Moira McQueen named to International Theological Commission
Wednesday, September 24, 2014Pope Francis has appointed Professor Moira McQueen as a new member of the International Theological Commission for its 2014-2019 term. Professor McQueen is the Executive Director of the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute, Toronto, and teaches moral theology at the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto. In his letter of congratulations, the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, wrote this “is wonderful news not only for you but for all the Church in our country.” A citizen of Canada as well as a subject of the United Kingdom who resides in the Diocese of Hamilton, Professor McQueen also has a background in law. She frequently serves as an advisor for the CCCB on ethical and moral questions, and is the CCCB delegate on the Biotechnology Reference Group of the Canadian Council of Churches.
