Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Smith_Richard-2012The Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, welcomed the National Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies from all of Latin and North America at the opening of their Continental Meeting, yesterday evening, March 11, 2013, in Montreal. This is the first time such a meeting has been held in Canada. “We are all well aware that we gather as the Conclave to elect the next Successor of the Apostle Peter is about to open. Therefore, as your Congress begins, we are given an opportune moment to reflect upon the Petrine ministry and its significance for the mission of the Church to which you, as National Directors, are particularly dedicated,” Archbishop Smith told the delegates.
