Philippines 2014-16-WebOn Sunday, August 24, we visited Daanbantayan, in northern Cebu. The Bishop’s blessed new fishing boats donated thanks to Canadian contributions to the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace. We had Mass with the community, followed by the blessing of new homes (also built with Canadian donations). These buildings are very nice — with concrete floors, a latrine attached to the back, and a septic tank built in.

For lunch, we had lechon (roast pig), among other dishes.

While the Internet connections have been very poor, it has been an excellent trip. It allowed us to see what has been possible in the Philippines with the grace of God, the faith and determination of the people of the Philippines, and the generosity of Canadian Catholics.
