Ebola virus – Development and Peace continues to assistMonday, March 9, 2015
The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) has announced an additional contribution of $100,000 to its partners in Sierra Leone in West Africa. This will bring to $350,000 in humanitarian aid by CCODP in response to the Ebola epidemic. According to a report by Development and Peace, “Sierra Leone has been, and continues to be, the country most severely affected by this epidemic. It has experienced the largest number of infections and deaths, and there are still several focal points of infection in the country.” The projects receiving assistance will support 400 families and 1,000 orphans, in addition to helping victims, especially women and children, rebuild their lives. The assistance to Caritas Sierra Leone will also support prevention and disease control programs in 200 villages of the country.
