Episcopal ordination of the Most Reverend Marcel Damphousse, Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall
Tuesday, September 4, 2012The Most Reverend Marcel Damphousse was ordained Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall at St. Finnan’s Cathedral in Alexandria, Ontario, September 2, 2012. Bishop Damphousse is the 8th Bishop of the Diocese. The Most Reverend Brendan M. O’Brien, Archbishop of Kingston, presided, assisted by the Most Reverend Pedro López Quintana, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada; the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau and Vice-President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops; and the Most Reverend Albert LeGatt, Archbishop of Saint Boniface. When appointed Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall by the Holy Father on June 28, 2012, Bishop Damphousse was then Rector of the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint-Boniface in Manitoba. The new Bishop succeeds the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher who was appointed Archbishop of Gatineau on October 12, 2011. The Reverend Kelvin Maloney had been Diocesan Administrator of Alexandria-Cornwall since November 30, 2011.
