House Speaker to Lead All-Party Canadian Delegation to Canonization of First North American Indigenous Woman to be Declared a Saint

kateri_1Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada released a news release dated October 18, 2012, announcing that an all-party Canadian government delegation will be in Rome for the canonization of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha. The delegation will be led by the Honourable Andrew Scheer, Speaker of the House of Commons, and include the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, and also the Honourable Peter Penashue, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada. The delegation will also include a number of Chiefs from First Nations communities in Canada.
