International symposium marks 30th anniversary of Vatican Television
Friday, October 18, 2013Today, October 18, 2013, an international symposium is being held in Rome to mark the 30th anniversary of Vatican Television. Father Thomas Rosica, C.S.B., CEO of Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, has been invited to moderate the symposium. In addition to introducing each of the presenters, he summarized their presentations, fielded questions, and gave the concluding presentation. Describing this event, Msgr. Patrick Powers, P.H., General Secretary of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, has noted that the Holy See chose Father Rosica “for this role because Salt + Light Television, one of the newest Catholic networks in the world, has modeled excellent relations with the Vatican and with Episcopal Conferences, as well as helping to train many young adults as well as religious and priests over the first decade Salt + Light has been broadcasting.” Msgr. Powers went on to state: “This 30th anniversary celebration of Vatican Television is an important event in the life of our Church, and it is an honour that a Canadian was invited to moderate the event. Our Episcopal Conference too has benefitted from the collaboration and expertise of Salt + Light TV, including its generous agreement over recent years to allow us to benefit by making major events at the Vatican accessible on our web site.”
