Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem expresses concerns about escalating tension between Gaza and Israel

The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has issued a news release expressing deep concern over the escalation of tension between Gaza and Israel. In addition, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Patriarchate, the Most Reverend William Shomali, in an interview with Vatican Radio described the situation as the “vicious circle of violence”. In related news, 100 Christian organizations and individuals in the Holy Land are urging the international community to support the upcoming Palestinian bid for non-state membership at the United Nations. His Beatitude Michel Sabbah, the former Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, was among the signatories.
