Nepal earthquake: Development and Peace provides emergency help

DP Nepal 166x310ENFollowing the massive earthquake of 7.8 on the Richter scale which struck Nepal on Friday, April 24, already more than 4,200 dead and over 7,500 injured have been reported. The epicentre was only 80 km from the capital, Kathmandu. Since Saturday, the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) has been in constant communication with the General Secretariat of Caritas Internationalis. Information from Caritas Nepal, Caritas India and the Catholic Relief Services office in India indicates Nepalis experiencing a major crisis. CCODP has released an emergency contribution of $50,000 to support the efforts of its Caritas partners on the ground, and is accepting donations from the public as a gesture of solidarity with the thousands of victims in Nepal. The Canadian government will match, dollar for dollar, all donations made by Canadians to support the victims of the earthquake in Nepal.
