New resources from the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario
Thursday, September 4, 2014The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario (ACBO) recently published new resources to promote reflection on issues in agriculture and on poverty reduction. The first is “Fruit of the Earth and Work of Human Hands”. This document is in two parts: the first is a statement; the second, a facilitator’s guide with workshop models. This new ACBO resource commemorates the 25th anniversary of the 1989 Pastoral Letter by the Bishops of Ontario, “The People and the Land“. Developed by the ACBO Commission for Social Affairs, this new resource is intended to assist advocacy in support of farmers and farming issues, as well as in the promotion of environmental stewardship.
The second ACBO resource is “Convening the Conversation: The Choices We Make Matter”. This workshop guide on advocacy for poverty reduction was prepared by social justice representatives of the Catholic dioceses of Ontario and has been endorsed by the ACBO Social Affairs Commission.
