Ordination of new Bishop of Mackenzie-Fort Smith

Ordination_of_Bishop_HagemoenThe episcopal ordination of the Most Reverend Mark Hagemoen as Bishop of Mackenzie-Fort Smith took place December 15, 2013, in Yellowknife. The Most Reverend Gerard Pettipas, C.Ss.R, Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan, was the presiding celebrant, assisted by the Most Reverend J. Michael Miller, C.S.B., Archbishop of Vancouver, and the Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton. In the celebrations following the ordination, Archbishop Smith, who is Past President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, also represented the President of the CCCB, the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau.  A number of other Bishops from across the country were also present. At the time of his appointment, last October 15, Bishop Hagemoen was President of Corpus Christi and St. Mark’s Colleges, Vancouver. The new Bishop is the first Canadian episcopal appointment by Pope Francis.
