Philippines joint CCCB-CCODP campaign — close to $5 million collected

CECC-166x315_ENThe joint appeal by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines has now raised $4,758,349.45 in donations from Catholics as of this past December 18. The joint appeal was launched November 12, 2013.  Donations for the Philippines emergency collection must be submitted no later than this coming December 23, in order to be eligible for matching funds from the Government of Canada. According to information on the Development and Peace website, Caritas Philippines-NASSA is planning, with CCODP support, to implement various measures to help 55,000 vulnerable households in Palawan, Leyte, Eastern Samar, Antique, Capiz Ilo-ilo and Kalibo. Development and Peace is also funding emergency assistance and development programs in Tacloban City in Leyte Province, one of the most affected areas of the country.
