Philippines joint CCCB-CCODP campaign – over $11 million collected
Wednesday, February 12, 2014The joint appeal by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines has now raised $11,331,833 as of February 4, 2014. The joint appeal was launched November 12, 2013. According to information on the Development and Peace website, “an estimated 14 million people [are] in need of some form of assistance due to the storm’s impact.” In addition to the distribution of food, clothing, materials for rebuilding homes, and household items, “DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE is also supporting people in regaining their livelihoods by providing new boats to fishermen, distributing seeds, livestock and farming tools for agriculture and through cash-for-work programs to help clear debris.”
