Pope Francis appeals for end to child labour

Thursday, June 12, 2014

At the end of his weekly General Audience in St. Peter’s Square, Rome, on June 11, 2014, Pope Francis made an appeal on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour to end child exploitation. This international world day, which takes place on June 12 of each year, was launched in 2002 by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to focus attention on the global extent of child labour, and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it. The theme for 2014 is: “Extend social protection: combat child labour!”
