Pope Francis appoints Cardinal Collins to Commission of Cardinals overseeing the Institute for the Works of Religion

Cardinal Collins 2013Today, January 15, 2014, the Holy Father has replaced four of the five Cardinals who were members of the Commission of Cardinals responsible for overseeing the Institute for the Works of Religion (IOR, which is commonly though inaccurately referred to as the “Vatican Bank”). Among the four new Cardinals named to the Commission is His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto. Cardinal Collins is also a member of the Congregation for Catholic Education and the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. Pope Francis also confirmed today His Eminence Marc Cardinal Ouellet, P.S.S., Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops and Archbishop Emeritus of Québec, as President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
