Pope Francis asks the entire Church this September 28 to pray for the upcoming Synod on familyFriday, September 12, 2014
His Eminence Lorenzo Cardinal Baldisseri, General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, has informed the world’s Episcopal Conferences and Patriarchs of the Eastern Churches that the Holy Father is asking the whole Church to pray on Sunday, September 28, for the upcoming Synod on the family. Along with his letter which he asked to be brought to the attention of all the Bishops of the country, Cardinal Baldisseri sent the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and Archbishop of Gatineau, a guide which includes the prayer for the Synod written by Pope Francis, in addition to suggestions for the prayers of the faithful. The III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the pastoral challenges of the family in the context of evangelization will begin Sunday, October 5, 2014. Altogether, there will be some 253 participants, including the CCCB President who is a member of the Synod, as well as 14 couples from all the continents who will be auditors.
