Religious Freedom in the World – 2014 Report
Friday, November 7, 2014According to the 2014 Report on Religious Freedom in the World by the International Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), religious freedom is compromised in nearly 60 % of countries worldwide. The Report compiled by journalists, academics and commentators, reveals deep concerns for people of faith in 116 of the world’s 196 countries. “The report – looking at all religious groups and covering events from autumn 2012 to summer 2014 – concludes that where the situation regarding religious liberty has changed, it has almost always changed for the worse.”
Aid to the Church in Need’s has launched, in collaboration with the Archdioceses of Montreal and Vancouver, a campaign in support of the Christians in the Middle-East. This campaign will begin today, November 7, 2014, with a Mass that will be presided over by the Most Reverend Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal, at the Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in Montreal, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
