Tuesday, January 28, 2014

fournierThe Bishops of Quebec this past January 23 issued a statement reiterating their opposition to the proposed legalization of euthanasia by the Government of Quebec’s Bill 52. The Most Reverend Pierre-André Fournier, Archbishop of Rimouski and President of the Assembly of Québec Catholic Bishops (AECQ), has now issued a special invitation to all the Catholics of Quebec: “Pray – and … pray in a particular way on February 11, World Day of the Sick – that the Holy Spirit might touch the hearts and consciences of the Members of the National Assembly who will soon be called upon to vote on the proposed law, … that they might in turn welcome the Spirit in the depths of their souls.” The AECQ has also proposed possible Prayers of the Faithful which are inspired by what the Bishops of Quebec have said on Bill 52.
