Symposium in Quebec City on Consecrated Life
Tuesday, October 27, 2015To mark the Year of Consecrated Life, the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of Laval University, Quebec, in partnership with the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and the Institut de pastorale des Dominicains (the Dominican pastoral institute) held a symposium on the consecrated life (in French only) in Quebec City, October 26 and 27, 2015. Based on the theme Reveillez le monde (“Wake up the world”), the Symposium brought together men and women who live the consecrated life, as well as theologians and other experts. The speakers included the Most Reverend Douglas Crosby, O.M.I., Bishop of Hamilton and President of the CCCB (formerly a provincial superior of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate); the Most Reverend Lionel Gendron, P.S.S., Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil and Vice President of the CCCB (formerly a provincial superior of the Sulpicians, an apostolic society of priests); and the Most Reverend Yvon Joseph Moreau, O.C.S.O., Bishop of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière (formerly the Abbot of the Cistercian Abbey then located in Oka, Quebec). The Most Reverend Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, presided at the Mass that was held in the Cathedral Basilica Notre-Dame de Québec. The celebration was broadcast on the Web television channel of the Archdiocese of Québec, ECDQ.TV.
