Synod on the Family: concluding remarks of Pope Francis
Wednesday, October 28, 2015The 14th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and in the Contemporary World ended Sunday, October 25, 2015, with the closing Mass in Saint Peter’s Basilica. The homily by Pope Francis, and his closing address on the Synod’s last working day are available on the Website of the Holy See. Vatican Information Service as well as Vatican Radio have provided a summary outlining the Synod’s final “relatio” or report which was approved by the Synod Fathers and submitted to the Holy Father.
The Pope’s address on the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the institution of the Synod of Bishops is available as well on the Holy See’s website. During the celebration of Vespers marking the 2015 Synod’s conclusion, the Synod Fathers issued a renewed appeal for peace and the resolution of conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, and Ukraine.
The office for media relations of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has prepared a summary together with links to news stories and reports on the Synod which cited the Bishops from Canada who have participated in the Synod on the Family. The Canadian Catholic television network Salt + Light TV also provided extensive coverage of the Synod with daily reports as part of its program “Inside the Synod”.
