The Most Reverend Raymond Poisson To Take Canonical Possession of Diocese of Mont-Laurier

Mgr PoissonOn 1 June 2020, the Holy Father united the Diocese of Mont-Laurier with the Diocese of Saint-Jérôme “in persona episcopi” (that is in the person of the Bishop) and appointed the Most Reverend Raymond Poisson, Bishop of Saint-Jérôme, as Bishop of Mont-Laurier.

With the authorization of the Apostolic Nunciature, Bishop Poisson will inaugurate his pastoral ministry and take canonical possession of the Diocese of Mont-Laurier, during a liturgy of the Word which will take place at the Cathedral of Mont-Laurier, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 at 10:30 a.m., in the presence of the members of the College of Consultors, and while respecting social distancing measures, the staff of diocesan services and the cathedral.

The Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau, will preside over the opening rites of the celebration.
