Position: Research and Resource Development Assistant
Office: Office for Evangelization and Catechesis

Summary

Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Director of the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC), the Research and Resource Development Assistant supports the Director by assisting with the responsibilities as they relate to evangelization and catechesis and performs related tasks for the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis.

Responsibilities:

1. Evangelization and Catechesis
In collaboration with and in support to the Director, the Research and Resource Development Assistant assists with the following:

  • Researches and identifies trends, changes, needs and opportunities in Church and society that affect evangelization and catechesis;
  • Develops and disseminates CCCB resources to promote evangelization;
  • Develops and disseminates CCCB resources for the faith formation of children, youth and families;
  • Develops and disseminates CCCB resources for adult faith formation;
  • Develops and organizes webinars, podcasts and other online resources for the formation of catechists and diocesan personnel involved in evangelization, adult faith formation, and parish and family catechesis;
  • Maintains an online resource center which serves as a “clearing house” for resources and information on evangelization, adult faith formation, the formation of catechists and parish based family catechesis;
  • Develops and edits newsletters and other documents for publication;
  • Performs other related duties as required.

2. Other related tasks:
In collaboration with and in support to the Director, the Research and Resource Development Assistant assists with the following:

  • Orders supplies for the OEC according to the procedures set out by Administration Services;
  • reviews and updates material placed on the webpage of the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis and the Commission for Evangelization;
  • Proofreads texts;
  • prepares approved agendas, attends meetings, takes notes and discusses contents with Director;
  • Drafts minutes; submits for approval;
  • Performs other administrative duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in theology, religious education, or pastoral studies;
  • Five years of experience in evangelization and catechesis in a diocesan or parish setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church, its ethos and its terminology;
  • Knowledge of trends in evangelization and catechesis (an asset);
  • Excellent reading, writing and communication skills in English;
  • Ability to speak and understand French (an asset);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, Outlook, InDesign (an asset) as well as social media platforms i.e. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.;
  • Proven ability in proofreading;
  • Ability to draft routine documents and to research files and documents for information;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Discretion, tact and good judgment.

This full-time permanent position has a salary range of $56,254 to $66,814, with excellent working conditions including a generous pension plan and a group benefit plan. The work schedule is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Each employee has a personal office on location and proper disinfecting measures throughout the building is in place.
