Commission for Evangelization and Catechesis

Mandate

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) promotes evangelization, catechesis, and Catholic education through the Episcopal Commission for Evangelization and Catechesis (ECEC). The Commission, which falls under the English Sector of the CCCB, is assisted in its work by the Office for Evangelization and Catechesis. (A similar service for French speaking parts of the country is rendered by the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Quebec through its Conseil Évangélisation et Vie chrétienne.)

The resources and teaching tools developed by the ECEC target all ages as well as the different contexts in which the Catholic faith is lived and practiced, such as the family, parish, schools, and ecclesial movements.

The ECEC also supports catechists and teachers through training opportunities as well as the development of effective modules and tools for evangelization.
