ADVISORY: Death of Archbishop Emeritus Paul Dumouchel, OMI
Monday, April 17 2000Most Reverend Paul Dumouchel, OMI, Archbishop Emeritus of Keewatin-Le Pas, died on April 15, 2000, at the age of 88.
Archbishop Dumouchel was born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba, September 19, 1911. Ordained to the priesthood at Lebret, Saskatchewan, he was named Apostolic Vicar of Keewatin on March 12, 1955; ordained bishop at Saint Boniface Cathedral on May 24, 1955, by Archbishop Maurice Baudou; and appointed Archbishop of Keewatin-Le Pas on July 22, 1967. He received the pallium as metropolitan on May 17, 1968. The Holy Father acccepted his resignation on November 12, 1986.
A funeral liturgy will be held at Saint Boniface Cathedral on Tuesday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m., with viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. His body will be transported to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Le Pas on Monday, April 24; solemn evening prayer will follow at 7:00 p.m. Solemn morning prayer and viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Cathedral at Le Pas on Tuesday, April 25, at 2:00 p.m. He will be buried in the crypt at the Le Pas Cathedral.
