Catholic Episcopal Conferences of the G8 countries call the political leaders to their moral obligations
Friday, June 01 2007Most Reverend André Gaumond, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), joins his counterparts of Episcopal Conferences of the G8 countries days before the summit of political leaders.
“The G8 Summit will explore many issues of critical importance to human life and dignity. We pray that your meeting will be blessed by a spirit of collaboration that enables the G8 leaders to advance the global common good by adopting concrete measures on global poverty, health care, climate change and peace and security”, declared the Bishops to the Presidents and Prime Ministers who will gather in Germany from 6 to 8 June 2007. The message is a first for Episcopal Conferences of the G8 countries.

Bush, President of the United States of America, Mr. Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Ms. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the French Republic, Mr. Romano Prodi, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Vladimir V. Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
