CCCB Publications Releases Three New Books
Friday, September 13 2002(CCCB – Ottawa) – The Publications Service of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has released three new books including Guidelines for Pastoral Liturgy: Liturgical Calendar 2002-2003, Workbook for Lectors and Gospel Readers, Canadian Edition 2003 – Year B, and Come and See, Year 4 Home Edition of the Born of the Spirit series.
Guidelines for Pastoral Liturgy: Liturgical Calendar 2002-2003 is for pastors, liturgy committees, and those involved in the music ministry and is an invaluable guide for the preparation and celebration of the liturgy in a spirit of faith. This resource offers full explanatory notes and information for each day, from the beginning of Advent 2002 to the end of Ordinary Time in 2003.
The pastoral notes at the beginning of the book contain a wealth of information and offer pastoral and practical ideas and suggestions on liturgy, in order to assist worship in guiding daily life.
Workbook for Lectors and Gospel Readers, Canadian Edition 2003 – Year B contains the New Revised Standard Version translation of the Bible used in the Canadian Lectionary. It covers the period from the First Sunday of Advent 2002 through the end of Ordinary time 2003.
This practical and user-friendly resource is for lectors, priests and deacons and is presented in sense-line format for ease of proclamation, with words in italics to suggest emphasis and rhythm for the three Scripture readings of each Sunday and holy day. It also contains commentary and margin notes for each Scripture passage, providing background information, proclamation techniques and help with difficult pronunciations.
Come and See, the new Year 4 Home Edition of the Born of the Spirit catechetical series, is designed for catechesis in the home to help enrich the faith-life of families. This simple, easy-to-use resource follows the liturgical year. Key to the resource are the family-centred rituals, to assist the child and family in celebrating the Word of God together.
The resource comes in leaflet format with activities for the whole family. Accompanied by a child’s book and music recording, it is designed for catechesis by correspondence or through scheduled parish-based gatherings.
All of the resources of the Born of the Spirit catechetical series are developed at the National Office of Religious Education of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), and are approved by the CCCB Episcopal Commission for Christian Education.
